MY BULGARIA, MY STORY

So I have finally reached the end of my holiday in Bulgaria. I have had a fantastic time and hope you have enjoyed sharing my experiences with me. Before I leave I wanted to share with a few of my favourite things about Bulgaria.

Everywhere you look there is history which I find so interesting, especially because it’s my country’s history.

Everywhere you look there is something beautiful, a country you can easily fall in love with.

BE BOLD, BE BRIGHT

Be bold, be bright. Never be afraid to make a big statement with a bright, bold colour. Yesterday I chose to do exactly that. I’m sure you have all read my previous travel post ‘SKI RESORTS IN THE SUMMERTIME’ well, I wanted to talk a little bit about my outfit. I chose to go all out and wear my bright blue trousers as I love making a statement with a bold colour.

I chose to pair the trousers with my white tiger top I found it in a little high street shop in Bulgaria. The eyes of the tiger match the trousers exactly which I love. I think it’s important to link your clothing pieces together when playing around with statement colours. This can also be done easily with a matching necklace or piece of jewellery.

I brought along my blue bag from Zara and wore a simple pair of black Chanel pumps.

It’s an easy, comfy outfit that also catches people’s eye, perfect spending the day outdoors.

SKI RESORTS IN THE SUMMERTIME

Today’s post is all about our trip to the beautiful ski resort, Borovets situated in the Rila mountain which is about an hours drive from Sofia. Obviously, there was no snow as we are in the middle of summer but there was a range of activities on offer.

We started off the day with a beautiful walk around the mountain and in the woods. The contrast from the winter was amazing, it really was hard to believe that just last winter the floor would have been a blanket of crisp white snow.

For lunch we chose Bulgare, a restaurant at the Borovets Ski Resort. Its was very nice, they serve a mix of traditional and European food and the service was excellent.

Later that afternoon we decided to try the horseback trekking. It was an amazing experience trekking through the mountains the scenery was stunning and there was so much wildlife, it was extremely peaceful and a great way to spend the day.

SHORTS AND BOOTS FOR A SUMMER DAY

Shorts and boots for a summer day. A quick outfit of the day for you, as I wanted to share this amazing outfit. It’s perfect for summer weather. The top is an amazing fashion brand called E L L E R Y, the designer is Kym Ellery. If you get a chance check out her amazing collections here.

The shorts are Ksubi an australian brand that has a serious cult following globally, the brand has been seen on every A-list celebrity with attitude, from A$AP Rocky to Kylie Jenner, Ruby Rose and The Internet. Check them out here.

The shoes are are brandless, they were one of those finds where they just catch your eye because they are so different and unique. I think this shows that you don’t have to be dressed completely in designer clothes to make a statement. It’s all about how you mix and match and accessories.

NESEBAR ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL TOWN

Another day, another beautiful ancient town, Nesebar. After visiting the stunning town of Sozopol we were inspired to visit another. We chose to visit Nessebar which was about an hour drive from Sozopol.

Nesebar is an ancient town and one of the major seaside resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, located in Burgas Province. Often referred to as the “Pearl of the Black Sea”, Nesebar is a rich city-museum defined by more than three millennia of ever-changing history. Walking around this beautiful little town was mesmerising, you almost felt as if you had been transported back in time.

Overall, it was a lovely day spent with family.

BEAUTIFUL DAY WALKING AROUND SOZOPOL

Today I wanted to talk about our trip into stunning town of Sozopol Bulgaria.

Sozopol is a beautiful little town situated on the coast of the Black Sea and only a 10 minutes walk from our hotel.

Sozopol is an ancient town with first settlements believed to be in the bronze age. Today it is one of the major seaside resorts in the country, known for the Apollonia art and film festival. This takes place in early September, to find out more about this click here.The busiest times of the year are the summer months, ranging from May to September as tourists from around the world come to enjoy the weather, sandy beaches, history and culture, fusion cuisine (Balkan, Mediterranean), and atmosphere of the colourful resort.

We took a lovely walk around the town and it was just amazing. Below is a slideshow of pictures from our day out in Sozopol.

APARTHOTEL MARTINEZ, SOZOPOL

So my five days have nearly come to an end, but before I left this beautiful place I wanted to write a short review of the hotel I have been staying in, Aparthotel Martinez Sozopol.

I have been coming to Sozopol for many years, sometimes on my own for a short beach break and sometimes with family. I always stay at the Aparthotel Martinez Sozopol.

This time, as I have mentioned before I came with family. I booked a two bedroom apartment for five days. The apartment was massive and the facilities were great. It has a gym, a spa and loads of amazing restaurants. It’s also two minutes from the beach so, you have the option of the pool or the beach.

As for the price, I paid 450 USD which was extremely reasonable for a two bedroom apartment on the beach.

It’s the perfect place to take your family for a short break, absolutely amazing. It’s also very close to the old town of Sozopol, which I will be covering in tomorrow’s post so watch out for that.

COSMOPOLLY GOES TO THE BEACH

Another installment from CosmoPolly travel diaries. This morning I woke up around 5am to catch the morning sunrise before heading down to the beach. It was beautiful, there’s always something so peaceful and calming about watching a sunrise, especially when it’s as stunning as this morning.

Once the rest of the family had woken, we headed down to breakfast. I chose my comfy lemon yellow matching shorts and top. A perfect casual outfit for wandering around the hotel.

After breakfast we headed down to the beach. The weather was glorious, around 25 – 30 degrees, perfect beach weather. I wore my oversized hat which is a must when exposed to the sun all day. I cannot stress enough how important it is to protect your skin from the sun, all the creams in the world won’t help you if your skin is already damaged by the sun.

I spent most of the day asleep on the beach with was lovely. Everyone needs to take a break from the world especially work once in a while, I believe it’s key living a successful life.

For the evening, I changed into a maxi dress and accessorised it with a red handbag and red hair clip. I think this gave a Spanish feel to the outfit.

We finished off the day sitting on the beach under the full moon, the perfect relaxing day.

TRAVELING TO THE BLACK SEA

A very busy day today, it started with packing for our trip to the Black sea coast. I am taking my family on a little getaway for 5 days which is going to be lovely.

Whenever I’m packing I always make sure to pack a few handbag colour options as it’s really important to have a handbag that matches your outfit.

Another is my oversized sun hat perfect for beach settings.

After braiding my hair into beautiful plaits we set off on the road to the Black sea coast.

They drive to the Black sea took us around four and half hours but it was beautiful. The weather was lovely, blue skies and only slightly cloudy.

Finally we arrived at our hotel, The Aparthotel Martinez. It’s a beautiful hotel situated in a prime location in the New Town of Sozopol, Bulgaria, overlooking the Harmanite Beach and the Black Sea.

To finish off the day I had a little play with some jewellery and realised that one of my necklaces would make fantastic face jewellery. I’m always looking for ideas for future outfits of the day.

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT WITH KOHZO JEANS

TRAVELING THROUGH BEAUTIFUL BULGARIA

Firstly, before we get to traveling through Bulgaria I wanted to quickly share with you a few pictures of last night’s celebration that I thought I had lost.

As I said yesterday it was a beautiful celebration, hosted at my friend house. The evening finished with us letting off wishing lanterns, what a fantastic night.

So, onto the day’s event, most of the day was spent traveling through Bulgaria which sounds a little boring but really it was fascinating.

When you live in Dubai which is made up of the endless desert you forget how beautiful and green places can be. It’s comforting and feels like home.

Later that afternoon we visited The Monastery of Saint Ivan of Rila, better known as the Rila Monastery. It’s is the largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria. It was absolutely stunning and if you are every in Bulgaria and wondering what to do I would definitely recommend going.

HOLIDAY FINALLY STARTS

Another lovely day in Sofia, Bulgaria. Finally, my holiday has started and I had my first day without any business. Unfortunately, the weather had different ideas and decided to rain all day so there were no relaxing walks around the city.

We headed south to celebrate a friends 50th anniversary, which was lovely

Despite the rain I wanted to wear something that made me feel summery. I went for my floral print Dolce & Gabbana mini dress. I absolutely love this dress it always brightens my day. (See and buy the dress here.) I chose a pair of Gucci leather pumps to wear with the dress. I love them and wear them on a regular basis as they are extremely comfortable and the lips give them a little quirky twist. (Buy them directly from the Gucci online store here.)

So, overall my first day of the holiday was brilliant. There is nothing better than spending time with friends in a lovely place with good food.
